BlogRush is Shutting Down

I guess this is a week wherein I am going to get weird emails.

Today when I checked my email, I read one from the administrators of BlogRush that Blogrush is shutting down. The entire email can be read from their home page or by clicking here. I've always loved this widget especially since I get traffic from other blogs because of this widget and I get to pick interesting posts to read from other bloggers through my widget.

I am not sure why they are shutting down exactly, but I do respect their decision in not selling the service. The service was a great idea, and I will miss seeing the blue widget I have been accustomed to seeing in my sidebar for so many months.

For other BlogRush users, we are advised to remove the widget from our sites/blogs. It's sad, but it has to be done.

Tell Me Something I Don't Know - Sunday, October 26th

A Strange Email

Today when I checked my email, I was surprised to find an email from one of the sites that I write for. It wasn't a request for me to write something new, but instead, a request to delete a post I completed late last year. Yes, it has been paid, but I was just wondering why in the world they would ask a blogger to delete a post that has been paid.

In the email, it states there that the advertiser I wrote for already canceled the ad and therefore, I should delete the write-up I made and I should do it promptly. Huh?

As most of the readers know, although I have lost my PR due to many sponsored posts, I am not one for deleting the said post after it has been paid. I just don't think that it's fair, since you were given good money and the moment you get paid you turn around and delete what you were paid for. But since it was the site admin's request, I simply complied.

There, just wanted to share that weird email I just received.

Excited about 2009

Right now, I am so excited and raving about 2009, I can't wait!

I guess one of the reasons behind my excitement is the Christmas Tree that is at my back from where I'm seated. My mom dropped it off earlier today as it's her 2nd Christmas Tree and she doesn't use it. Having the tree and some Christmas decorations up at the house just made me get into the holiday mood altogether. I'm also excited about this Wednesday, which is Keisha's birthday!!!

I have a lot of things to be thankful for, and I'm glad I realized that. I shouldn't be spending time sulking and being mad when I have a lot of blessings in front of me. If what I'm feeling now is the effect of the Christmas Tree then heck, I should have it up for the whole year!

Yikes, I lost my files!

No More Entrecard For Me!

Yes, I know. :-(

I just started using Entrecard a couple of days ago and I must say, there were indeed a lot of people dropping by my blog, even though it was for the purpose of dropping their cards and earning credits. But traffic is traffic, and I didn't mind.

What I did mind though is the fact that the card actually interfered with my blog's template, especially for my other blog, Something and Nothing at All. There were a lot of times when I viewed my blog and my NavBar wasn't there. Instead, it was parts of the Entrecard card sitting where my NavBar should be. When I tried removing the gadget earlier, it even kept giving me error messages, until I finally managed to get the codes out of my HTML.

So there. I say goodbye to several unique visits a day. I don't know if this is the right thing to do, but I just don't like logging into my blog and seeing the template all scrambled. After all, it's me who sees my blog most often, and I don't want an eyesore every time I want to make a post.

Love Art?

I came across this site called MyWhiteWalls, which is basically an online art and wall decor store. They have a lot of different styles of wall art including modern art, abstract, traditional, metal, and famous canvas works of art. Hope you'll drop by and give them a visit. Who knows, you might find something you like.

Another Opp from PayPerPost

This week must be a good week as not only did I get another opp from ReviewMe, I also logged into PayPerPost and also found another opp for $5! Today really must be a good week for me with regards to opps.

I have been logging into PayPerPost several times and I always see opps that have already been fully reserved but I guess today (including yesterday) is my good day.

I really like PayPerPost as I haven't had any payout problems with them, and I hope I never do. I'm really happy with PPP, especially since I was able to get a new opp from them, considering the last opp I did was back in January 30, 2008.

The Cost of Quality Eyeglasses

My mother in law is turning 50 next month and she already wears eyeglasses. The thing is, since she takes care of the kids most of the time as my husband and I work, her eyeglasses are often broken whenever she and the kids are playing around or when my toddler suddenly grabs them and tosses them away.

I don't want her wearing and buying cheap glasses, especially if we can afford good ones, but here's a pair of her eyeglasses that cost us around $35, I don't even know what kind of metal the frame is made of:

See the sides? This is actually her reading glasses and well as you can see, they're pretty much broken. Although she's gotten a new one made, she hasn't thrown these away. My toddler actually grabbed my mother in law's eyeglasses and them threw them to the floor and it broke that easily.

Then I came across ZenniOptical.com and I wish I had found about them before we had her second pair made. Prescription glasses start at $8 with a huge selection of frames, potochromic lens, and even progressive lens. I also found out that ZenniOptical actually manufactures their own frames and directly sells it to customers online, with no middlemen and virtually no advertising budget, that's why their eyeglasses are so cheap.

But don't get me wrong. Not because the glasses are cheap means they're also poor of quality. In fact, ZenniOptical was even featured in the Chicago Tribune. You can read about the article by clicking here. So there, just in case the new eyeglasses my mother in law has now gets broken, I know where to buy next time, for a great deal, too!

Using Entrecard

I just started using Entrecard yesterday and to be honest, I'm not sure exactly as to how it works. All three blogs of mine have their own Entrecard buttons, and here they are so you can see what they look like:

This one's for this blog, of course.

And this one's for Keisha's blog.

I got as far as designing a button or a logo if you may, that's 125x125 pixels in size. And I've been visiting some blogs with Entrecard cards and dropping my card. I also got some ad requests and everything seems pretty cool. I am beginning to think that Entrecard's goal is for members to earn traffic as you'll be visiting other blogs to earn credits to advertise on other blogs. So it's a pretty cool thing after all.

Anyone there who's been using Entrecard? Hope you'll share some things I should know about it. Thanks in advance.

An Online Casino Guide

I came across a website called casino.de and it's a site about casinos and it's also basically an online casino guide. If you're new to the world of online casinos or if you're just looking for some information, then this is the site for you.

Casino.de has a free blackjack training game, so it's a nice place to practice and learn more about blackjack before actually putting your money at stake. They also offer free game rules as well as an instructional video that you can watch first before making any leaps, just to make sure you've touched up on your bases. Players can also have a look first at the free slots with cash prizes, so you don't have to worry about making any deposits or sorts, you're just looking around and getting the feel of the place.

What's even better is that Casino.de also reviews other casino and poker sites. So at least before you actually make any deposits on other poker and casino sites, you get to read insights from real people about the site, how the rules are, how fast their customer support responds, and other information any player should know.

Casino.de is a German website and the content is also in German. For those who don't understand the language, they have a sister website in English, www.online-casinos.com, that's also worth the visit.

Finally, Another Opp from ReviewMe

Weeeee!

I don't know how long it's been since the last time I had a review from ReviewMe. If I'm not mistaken, the last review I completed from them was around last year. I think that when this blog lost it's PR (ouch!), I didn't get that much offers from advertisers. But I guess that's just the way things work around the online world.

I guess I should put some of my focus back into making original content, and balance out the incoming with the outgoing links. It's going to be tough, but I have to do it if I want my PR back (which will be easier said than done, lol!) or if I want more, high-paying opps.

I'm just glad that I have another opp from ReviewMe. I look forward to more and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I do get more opps.

An Extra Dime on ExtraDime

For people who are into shopping for bargains and deals and are also into making money online, ExtraDime is a site you should visit. It's actually a forum wherein the discussions are about online shopping bargains, financial deals like bank sing up bonuses, credit card cash back offers, 0% interest on credit card purchases, and other things similar to those that I mentioned.

What's more is that if you're using Google Adsense, ExtraDime shares advertising space with it's members wherein you can place your own Adsense banners in your forum signature. You will also be earning credits for creating new forum threads in ExtraDime, but it has to have original info about new shopping discounts and coupons for you to earn credits. Each new thread is worth 5 credits and replies that have additional insights on a particular shopping deal also earns you 2 credits per post. Currently, ExtraDime's exchange rate is at $1 - 100 credits, with payouts starting at $5 via PayPal.

So if you'd like to earn that extra dime or to, drop by at ExtraDime. You'll not only earn cash for sharing info about shopping deals, you also earn from it.

On Difficult Customers and Wireless Routers

Today at work I encountered a pretty difficult customer. I guess in the world of telemarketing, some sales representatives (I'm not saying all, just some) might just promise you the world in order to get a sale. I somehow understand why some sales representatives would do that, especially if their salary depended on their commission.

So going back to my customer earlier, he said he was promised this and that, including a wireless router that we no longer offered months and months ago. As it turns out, the customer has 3 laptops in addition to two desktops, so he really needs a good wireless router. What makes his situation more difficult is that the customer I was speaking to wasn't really that technically inclined. Sure, he can use a computer. But as far as configuring modems and routers to his PCs, he was a bit lost on that.

So being the Technical Support Representative that I am of a VOIP company, I walked him through where to buy wireless routers online. Since he wasn't too technical, I suggested getting Linksys routers as they are pretty much plug and play and requires very minimal configuration. Another brand I suggested were the wireless routers from D-Link as they are also very easy to set up and requires very basic technical knowledge. I was honestly surprised that you could buy a good wireless router for less than $50, and the customer I was speaking with was also very surprised and pleased. I hope everything turns out well on his purchase as I still need to call him back and help him set up whatever router he's going to buy in addition to his VOIP service. :-)

Brick & Lace - Love is Wicked

On one of the music sites I write for, this duo, Brick & Lace, are the ones we're featuring for the week. I listened to their song and I just couldn't help but dance to their beat. They're a great R&B duo and I am looking forward to hearing more of them.

Followers on Blogger

I recently started displaying the Followers gadget on my blog. My friend and officemate Richard is currently following two of my blogs, and of course Henry is following all of my blogs too. I tried adding myself as a follower, and, well, it worked! lol.

I think it's pretty cool that Blogger came up with this gadget, as it lets you keep track of who's reading your blog. Of course, this gadget only works with other Blogger bloggers, and it sort of reminds me of the widget MyBlogLog has. It displays a small picture of the person who's following you. In MyBlogLog, it displays the recent visitors to your site.

Another good thing is when you log in to Blogger, you'll see updates about the blog you're following. If they've made a new post, you'll see the title and an excerpt of the post, plus when the post was made, like how many minutes or hours ago. I don't need to visit their blog all the time to see if there are new posts and read about them as well.

Aside from MyBlogLog, the Followers also sort of reminds me of an RSS feed. It keeps you up to date if the blogs you're following or subscribed to are updated. All in all, I think it's one of those Blogger gadgets that are a must-have.

Fall TV Season Has Begun

Following Survivor Philippines

I am doing a really bad job at watching Survivor Philippines. I only managed to watch the pilot episode and nothing more afterwards. I remember when I was so hooked into Ally McBeal, I used to wake up in the middle of my sleep even if I had work tomorrow just to watch it. And then, I'd even watch the reruns on weekends.

I guess I'm not into Survivor Philippines as much as I thought I was.
