House Season 6

I really, really like the TV show House, and I'm enjoying it even more because my husband shares the same fascination as I do with the show. This is definitely one of the shows we watch on TV where he doesn't doze off. He normally starts sleeping after the first few minutes of anything he sees on TV, but with House, it's a different thing.

I already downloaded torrents of Season 6, up to the episode entitled Lockdown. I hope that someone uploads the next episode entitled Knight Fall, but I feel I will need to wait for a couple of more weeks as this episode was aired just last week I think.

A friend of mine posted on his Facebook account though that House was being considered by the network that airs it to be ended already. My husband was devastated when he heard the news - but it is just being considered, something I do hope doesn't materialize.

Goodbye Johnny Delgado

I did not know the Philippine actor Johnny Delgado had passed away last November 19 due to cancer. He has always been one of my favorite actors in the Philippine industry, particularly because he had class in acting and was really good in his craft.

It is sad when someone passes away, even if you did not personally know the said person.

House Season 5

I've said this before and I'll say it again - I LOVE HOUSE!!!!!!!!

I love how the plot twists and turns and the medical puzzles they solve daily. I love how each doctor brainstorms until they figure out what's wrong with a patient, and how House has these sudden epiphanies when solving a puzzle.

Ako Mismo

AKO MISMO is about YOU!

Making a stand and taking real action for the causes you believe in. Causes that you yourself can truly pursue to make a real, positive difference to your fellow countryman, to your country.

It is for you who still dare to hope that life for millions doesnt have to be a hopeless battle against problems like poverty, illiteracy, unemployment.

It is for you who believe that not enough is being done about our countrys problems. And that to do right things, youll do them yourself.

It is a movement where you can show your patriotism and compassion, and make these traits infectious.

Its about action that eradicates hopelessness in every Filipino.

How hard will this be to accomplish? Well that will be entirely up to you.

In AKO MISMO you get to choose the cause you wish to pursue. No cause is too small as long as it is a noble one. All we ask is that you make a pledge to do it.

You yourself can pledge anything: from teaching English to your yayas kid, to making sure that your barangay is dengue-free.

Or make a pledge to do your part in ending corruption, prostitution, illegal drugs or the inhumane treatment of animals. The choice is yours.

No matter how small, as long as you pledge that you yourself will take action, its sure to make a big difference.

Giving more hope for Filipinos to stop merely surviving, and start living. And it starts with you.

Survivor Season 2

GMA is already screening applicants for the Season 2 of Survivor Philippines. I'll be really honest - I can't follow TV shows that well, and I don't like reality shows that much, since some reality shows bring out the worst in people because of their desire to stay in the game.

I wonder how they will be casting the second batch of Philippine survivors. The first season had mix of a really older guy, and young girls and guys. The winner, JC Tiuseco, is now officially a celebrity with appearances in TV shows and variety noontime shows.

If I had the guts (and the time!), I'd probably try my luck with Survivor, too. You not only win the money, but you also win a new lifestyle in the eyes of the media. Sounds not too bad to me, what do you think?

Idol Exclusive - The Site for Everything Idol!

Today has to be a pretty good day for me, as I am able to expand my virtual knowledge with websites over the internet. Just today, I've discovered several new websites brimming with tons of potential and being a member of these websites is something certainly enjoyable. Another site I discovered today is called Idol Exclusive, which is basically a site for American Idol fans like myself. This has been one of my favorite reality tv shows that I certainly make it a point to not miss a single episode of.

Members of the website can get together in various ways - through blogs, forums, pictures, and groups. Members all have their own personal profile where they can add almost anything they want about themselves and their idols. Video uploading is also available to make your Idol experience worthwhile.

What's even good about this site is that members can read the latest news on their Idols right off the site, and even have the option to receive these news on your mobile phone.

Tessa Prieto-Valdez wins first ever Celebrity Duets Philippine Edition

Aired last August 11, the Philippine version of Celebrity Duets came to a close earlier tonight with Tessa Prieto-Valdez declared as the first-ever champion of the said show.

A fashion icon, columnist, and socialite, Tessa easily won my heart and about a million other Filipinos with her charisma, outrageous costumes, and her tremendous effort in singing. Admitted to not having been bestowed with a singing voice, Tessa managed to make each and every performance every Saturday night on GMA Network very fun and enjoyable, with Buboy Garovillo, one of the judges commenting that Tessa's performances were the highlight of the show.

I can't forget the look on Tessa's face the Saturday prior to this one, when she and Dr. Manny Calayan were the "bottom two" and one of them was bound to be eliminated. She looked so sad, as if she knew she had already lost and was trying really hard to stop herself from sobbing uncontrollably.

For my mom in law and I, Tessa was already a winner, and we're more than glad to have followed her efforts and her performances from week 1 up to tonight's finals. Yehey Tessa!

From what I know, Celebrity Duets will be replaced by Kakasa ka ba sa Grade 5? I hope it'll be as fun as Celebrity Duets, I've already added this show to the numerous tv shows I watch regularly.

I am NOT Watching Desperate Housewives Ever Again!!!

Grrrr...I saw a clip from an episode of Desperate Housewives and boy, am I upset. To think of how many Filipino medical professionals are in the US and a show just racially discriminates them? Arrrgh! When I saw the episode, I swear I wanted to rip Teri Hatcher's head off, and which Filipino wouldn't? Our local news had stated that they've already apologized and the scene from he episode deleted, but the damage is done. Once a glass has a crack, there's no way to fix it. I am not watching Desperate Housewives ever again! This is one good Filipino viewer that their ratings are going to miss. Grrr..... Watch the video and you'll see why thousands of Filipinos are upset. Just in how many countries is this show aired on? I think they should have been more responsible, and to shrug it off as a joke is a low blow. Jokes are always half-meant, isn't it?

Jumong

Jumong (tv series) tells the story of Jumong Taewang, founder of the Kingdom of Goguryeo and son of the rebel leader Haemosu, who grew up in the Kingdom of Buyeo and raised as King Geumwa's son. As he grew of age, half brothers Daeso and Yeongpo battled with him fiercely in order to be the next king, often pulling dirty schemes while conniving with the Queen, their mother. Jumong and Daeso fall in love with the same girl So Seo No, and a battle to win her heart ensues among the two.

As Jumong faces challenges brought about by his half brothers and circumstance, the truth that he is not a true prince of Buyeo is revealed to him, he decided to leave the kingdom and continue his father's dream - to free the people enslaved by the Han's. During one of his battles, Jumong is badly wounded and is carried away by a a strong river where he is found by Soya who nurses his wounds and tends to his recovery. Months passed before Jumong is able to return to Buyeo, where he finds that while he was gone, So Seo No was already married to Wute, one of their merchant tribesmen, out of fear of being Daeso's second wife, then married to the daughter of the governor of Yonto. Eventually, Jumong falls in love and ends up marrying Soya and has a son named Yuri with her.

Fate is bitter for Jumong, as he is separated from his family and and his beloved mother Yuwah who then were held captive in Buyeo by the King. During one of Yuwah and Soya's escapes from the palace, Yuwah is caught and slain by King Geumwa himself, and Soya and Yuri are taken for dead.

Distraught, Jumong moves on and is ever closer to fulfilling his father's dream. With the help of his ever loyal friends, Jumong is able to build his own nation with the help of So Seo No, and still continues to battle with Daeso.

How Jumong is reunited with Soya and Yuri is a real tear jerker, but So Seo No then decides to leave the kingdom she helped establish to avoid conflict as to who will inherit the throne between Yuri and her two own sons.

Jumong is aired Mondays through Fridays on GMA here in the Philippines. The story is a bit long, since it starts off with Jumong's parents and ends with his own son. But nevertheless, there is never a dull episode. My personal favorite was when Jumong, Daeso and Youngpo were engaged in a duel amongst themselves. Jumong's secret trainings with his teacher (who, unknown to Jumong was his real father) pays off tremendously as he easily beats the crap out of his two step brothers.

A lot of things - actually, too many things - happen to Jumong that molds him into the hero that he was. After fulfilling his father's dream of freeing the people enslaved by the Hans, Jumong puts down his sword and turns the kingdom over to his son.

Jumong dies at the age of 40 due to a battle wound that reached his marrow. And as narrated in the final episode, Daeso is slain by Yuri and leads a prosperous life in the kingdom his father has established.

Starring Song Il Gook, Jumong is a big hit here in the Philippines and I am sooo addicted to watching it. :-D

House

House is a medical drama featuring a brilliant doctor who trusts no one whom you'll either hate immensely or love deeply. He handles cases that other doctors can't solve using techniques of his own that (most of the time) puts his patient's lives at stake, something he doesn't mind that much. I got hooked into this series through AXN Philippines, and I've never stopped watching.

Most often than not, tv series always provide a gripping introduction of the show, the cast, and a plot that seems to-die-for. But when you get to the middle part of the series, it begins to be a drag, and a hasty conclusion to all the events that happend in the entire show is put to a close. This, thankfully, is not the way House goes. Although he and his staff handle different cases, one can see the effects/results of the decisions each character makes per episode and how it changes them until the season ends.

I've always believed in the goodness of people until proven otherwise but for House, everybody lies. His motto, in his opinion, has helped him save thousands of lives and solve numerous cases which other doctors have given up on. But his belief has led him into a life of isolation, a life that is without true love. After the incident that left him with a limp, House has been more stubborn than ever, but has proven to be even more brilliant. Often high on Vicodin, House proves to be the stubborn yet brilliant doctor he's known for.

Through watching House, I've learned a lot of things, especially about trust. If you've been hurt deeply by the person whom you love the most, life does get pretty hard and trust becomes an issue. Little by little, House learns how to trust and love again, and hopefully, he'll emerge from the shell he's crawled himself into.
